Both the American Bible Society and the United Bible Society have come under criticism for their overall compromise with the 'world'.
This includes the distribution of many different 'modern' Bible (per)versions, ecumenism, and joining with and promoting many other false 'Christian' faiths such as Catholicism among other things.
LACK OF DISCERNMENT OR INTENTIONAL APOSTASY?
So, it was concerning when I recently saw that an old acquaintance of our family now works for the American Bible Society. She was, though slightly 'holier than thou', a Baptist and a Protestant Christian at that time.
The lack of discernment is always somewhat surprising when all it takes is saying something is 'Christian' or to mention the name of Jesus to make people buy into something as being genuinely Christian without really looking into the matter.
However, it is also possible that people do know what they're 'signing up' for and are completely on board with it. This is even worse. Either this person was not a good Berean and did not 'search the scriptures' or she is actually an apostate herself.
HISTORY OF ABS
Founded on May 11, 1816, in New York City, it is best known for its Good News Translation of the Bible, written in the contemporary vernacular. American Bible Society also publishes the Contemporary English Version.
They distribute many more of these types of 'modern' translations as well – they cannot all be the word of God as they even often contradict each other and pervert doctrine. See list HERE.
The Good News Bible implies the false doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church that Peter is the “rock” on which the church of Christ is built. In Matthew 16:18, it reads:
“And so I tell you, Peter, you are a rock, and on this rock foundation, I will build my church, and not even death will be able to overcome it.”
The context makes it clear that the church is built upon the great truth that Peter had just confessed that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. It is upon this fact, not upon weak, sinful Peter that the Lord built His church (1 Corinthians 3:11).
PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CATHOLIC CHURCH & BLESSING OF THE POPE
American Bible Society president Rory L. Peterson met with Pope Francis and had this to say to him during the organization’s cordial meeting with the Pope, “We are deeply grateful for your leadership and your advocacy for God’s Word.”
Pope Francis encouraged them to continue and even intensify their commitment to transforming lives through God's word. Sounds good, but which word? God says to 'come out from among them' not join with them.
ABS IS A MEMBER OF UBS
American Bible Society is a member of the United Bible Societies. The UBS is interconfessional meaning that they serve and work with all churches of all traditions and denominations—Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant and Emerging.
The UBS also describes itself as 'interdependent' stating, "We are a Fellowship made up of independent national Bible Societies choosing to join together as members in an interdependent global organization.
THE POPE HAS ALSO PARTNERED WITH 'THE WORLD'
Many political leaders travel to the Vatican to kiss the hand of the Pope to show their loyalty and obedience to him, so it is interesting to see to whom he gives his loyalty and obeisance, also showing who he answers to:
'Pope Francis kissed the hands of the Rockefeller and Rothschild family members who control the world's finances, etc.'
