Poetry 4 - (Just some fun!)
LITTLE STRAY KITTY
Little stray kitty so cute and sweet
I’m glad we had the chance to meet.
But you really can’t stay here in the yard,
That would just be way too hard.
If I feed you any food
You’ll bring along your entire brood.
Then cats from everywhere will come
And soon there will be room for none.
Or maybe we’ll have to start a zoo,
So other cats can come here too.
But someone may be missing you
And wanting you to come home too.
So, thanks for visiting but you cannot stay,
Soon you’ll have to go away.
Please come again another time,
That would be so very fine.
But now you must be on your way,
And find another place to stay.
For though I know you like to roam,
This place is really not your home.

LITTLE EASTER BUNNY
Small and white and cute and fuzzy,
The Little Easter Bunny goes hopping,
And where he hops,
He leaves little tiny Easter eggs.
Oh but he watches so sadly,
How can he come out of his cage now?
Yes, we would be with him gladly,
But each time when he hops all around
He leaves little eggs on the ground…
Ba da da, da da da da, da da da da
Little tiny Easter eggs, little tiny East eggs

A Poem to Thank You Daddy:
Thank you for a beautiful life for us all: for family fun Spring, Summer, Winter & Fall.
Fun times in the water boating on the Chesapeake, or going fishing on little Swan Creek.
Hazy summer days with lemonade and treats, Daddy on the mower making the lawn neat.
The swing set, badminton and croquet, is how we would wile away our day.
Roller-skates and bicycles when it was warm outside, the sled and ice skates in winter time.
Through deep snow following taillights’ glimmer, on our way to Mamaw & Papaw’s for Thanksgiving dinner.
Thank you for so much old-fashioned homemade fun, like a nice big yard where we could run.
Family trips to the shore, vacations and more; going to church to learn about Jesus our Lord.
Singing in choir all of us together, going caroling and visiting no matter the weather.
Parks, restaurants, fun places to go; with too many that are now long gone.
But aren’t we lucky we got to see, and enjoy them in a land that was free.
A place to call home with a warm cozy bed, and two soft fuzzy puppies named Coffee and Fred.
Where did it go - it went far too fast; I really wish that the time could last.
But there is a Place around the bend, where it truly never has to end.
Yes, thank you for so many things, but most of all for teaching us about Jesus and his precious Word…
Where the Bible says we don’t have to mourn, because someday on that bright true Morn’,
We’ll be seeing you before too long, but for now enjoy rest well-deserved while we yearn,
To be with our Heavenly Father on that distant shore, where we’ll all be happy and together once more.
For while the beauty of this world is vast, it’s only a glimpse of the one that will last.
And now you are there in the everlasting arms, of the One who loves us more than we'll ever comprehend.
The One who with those arms will welcome us all one day, when He returns or calls us away.
And while we don’t always understand His ways, God blessed us each and every day.
So, that it’s over I’ll try not to be sad, but instead that it ever happened at all, most glad.
For it truly was a Wonderful Life, and one that was very well lived indeed by our Dad.
Thank you ‘Daddy’!

THE GIRL FROM LUCRETIA
She was born in a house in Lucretia, on a beautiful 5-acre hillside;
Born to Mamaw & Papaw Wagoner, she would be their only child.
But instead of being lonely, you see she had make-believe playmates: Ensy & Choosy;
And a real-life friend nicknamed Pooch, from over the field and a neighbor to boot!
At home she helped with the laundry, and pulling weeds in the garden;
And went to school right in town, in Grafton up at the East End.
She loved history and music, and played the clarinet;
Also marched in the band where her future husband she met.
On their date to the prom, he picked her up in a hearst;
It was really quite fancy, so it wasn’t the worst.
Of course we all know who was this mystery date;
The son of a funeral director, who became her lifelong mate.
While she went off to college, they both stayed in touch;
There she would study the things that she had loved so much.
Her love of music and history would be shared with so many through…
Being a teacher, her students would learn to love and enjoy them too.
Later even as a mother and wife, her home was filled with music and books;
With so many good things to see, hear and read in each and every nook.
Sounds of soft melody would float in the air; from piano, stereo or sweet voices somewhere;
We would all play and sing and have family prayer, and sometimes were even called the Bartlett Pairs.
My mother skillfully crafted a contented home, and a life where one’s mind was free to roam;
Happiness abounded from her positive smile, this girl from Lucretia spread goodness with every mile.
She traveled afar to speak of Jesus her Lord, with her 2 little sidekicks who sang while she gave the Word;
Whether ladies’ luncheons or directing the church choir, she gave of her talents to serve her Savior so mild.
For a time she enjoyed living under tropical skies, where the sun shines bright and the sea bird flies;
But she missed her true home in the mountains so fair, so she and her hubby decided to move back there.
To a street in a town that was so dear, with good people and friends that they could be near;
A Victorian house that was really neat, with sweet puppy Lester who made their home complete.
A faithful wife who was always there, in sickness and health she always gave care;
Not always easy as the years would grow, but by her countenance you’d never know.
This girl from Lucretia with a cheerful heart, made all who knew her feel a part…
Of that wholesome world wherever she went, whose time here on Earth was so very well spent.
I feel so fortunate to have had that time with her to spend, not only as a mother but also a friend;
We’ll miss you so much but look forward to when, we'll all be able to see you again - in that wonderful ‘World Without End’.
Love you Mommy!
