Festivities - Mardi Gras
Have I ever been lucky enough to go to New Orleans? Yes! We were able to take a trip there several years back, and we had a really great time.
One place I especially remember visiting was Cafe Beignet on Royal Street. It was very quaint and cozy, unlike the larger open-air Cafe du Monde.
We were there during 'chilly' weather, and being inside a small cafe that smelled of fresh-brewed coffee and beignets was perfection.
While we weren't there during Mardi Gras, it was nice with it being much less crowded. (But, we do have cousins that work with a 'krewe' every year!)
The tour of the old Cemetery and the Garden District was very enjoyable, as was the old trolley ride on Charles Street to get there..
There was a small restaurant and outdoor cafe near the 'District' that had great hot chocolate, which was perfect after walking around in the cold.
We also toured the French Quarter and Bourbon Street, and had delicious Muffalettas and Po' Boys at Napoleon House.
And, of course, Gumbo at the Bubba Gump Restaurant on Decatur Street. (Click on images to see location & information.)
