SPRING IS HERE Indeed! Thank goodness for the arrival of Spring, and for the Dandy Lions! Dandy Lions (dandelions) are actually a very useful and wonderful thing. DANDELION USES They can be used for food and for medicine. We used to make a very delicious dandelion salad in spring. (Or can be held underneath your chin to see if you like butter!) TEA AND WISHES Dandelions can truly be found everywhere and even be wild foraged for food, Tea, and herbal medicine. Their cheerful yellow color is also a welcome sight after a bleak winter. Although seen as a 'weed' by many, the humble dandelion is truly quite Dandy. (A 'Dandy Lion' can also be very cute too.) And, you can also make wishes on the seeds! YOU CAN BE A DANDY LION TOO! THE NAME DANDELION The name for the dandelion plant came from the leaves which resemble the teeth of a lion (dents de lion in French). The bright yellow flower also resembles a lion's mane. The Ho 'Ala Ke Kino (Awaken the Body) workout was much different from other series I have done from Tony Horton (such as P90X), but very enjoyable too and serves a different purpose. Very peaceful! It is more of a 'recovery' type of workout with stretching and slower body movement exercise. This workout feels really relaxing - and energizing - at the same time. Truly does 'Awaken the Body'. STRETCH & RECOVERY Ho 'Ala Ke Kino is perfect on its own, or as a stretch session after a more rigorous workout to ease any tension or muscle soreness. Program is just 30min and requires only a Yoga Mat (optional). This program was filmed at the beach on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai which makes for a very beautiful and relaxing setting. MY EXPERIENCE Andrea's sweet and friendly personality puts you right at ease as well as the peaceful setting in a living room with a comfy white couch, chair with a soft fuzzy throw and a beautiful city window view. I love that several of the stretch routines are done mainly in a seated position, especially for those 'low energy' days when you only want to sit. This, and a short time commitment, makes it easy to add stretching to your daily routine. XB STRETCH FEATURES & BENEFITS Andrea also provides good verbal and visual guidance, and demonstrates each move in detail. These sessions help you to feel and move better with total-body stretches. These routines have been a 'godsend' for those days after a more heavy workout to ease stiffness and muscle soreness and bring back flexibility and mobility. I finished this in the 7 days recommended, and I could really feel the difference in my overall muscles - legs, arms, hips & shoulders. This is truly an awesome 'primer' that makes you want to keep it up. THE PROGRAM The 'Clean Week' Program includes just 7 workouts designed to be done in a 1-week time frame for 30 Minutes each day. It incorporates Bodyweight & Lift Training with Low Impact exercise & Recovery. The 30-minute workouts focus on the basic foundations of fitness – Cardio, Strength, Core Function, and Flexibility – to create a well-rounded fitness program for any level. I really enjoyed this program. Megan made the workouts fun and upbeat, with moves like Inchworm, Bear Crawl, 'Frankenstein' & Squat Hops. FUN FOR ALL AGES! Her cast members also had a great attitude (Sean!), and the studio was 'bright and tidy' with nice minimal decor. Yes, this all matters - if it's not somewhere you'd want to be in person, then you probably won't want to tune in either.
