In Season 4, Episode 9 of the series 'Outlander', Claire and Jamie Fraser head for the West Indies in pursuit of their nephew, young Ian Murray, who has been kidnapped.
When they find themselves in the doldrums, Claire takes to attire that allows her to keep cool in the torrid heat while also offering protection from the hot blazing sunshine of the tropics.
Her loose more casual 'nautical' gown outfit includes tropical sun, sailing and beach friendly hats and clothing for this part of her seafaring journey, all with materials such as cotton, linen - and raffia - instead of wool and tweed.
Claire wears a crisp ivory white long-sleeve collared button blouse for her shirt and a light blue full floor-length (...deck length) skirt with a brown leather square buckle belt and tan wide brim woven raffia straw hat.
The pieces shown below are reminiscent of Claire's versatile ensemble. With separates such as long rolled-up sleeve shirts and full loose skirts, she can accessorize when needed with her straw hat and a fitted belt.
