I end up going through a lot of different products just to find the right ones that I can actually tolerate.
It can be frustrating, but also very rewarding when you find a brand that really delivers on it's promise of being non-toxic.
I recently had that experience with an Organic Cotton Sateen Quilt from Coyuchi at Sierra Trading. I had heard about their organic products for some time, but had never tried them. I'm so glad I finally did! |
They do tend to be a little on the expensive side, but now I would have to say that they are well worth it.
For the first time, I actually felt that I could almost use the quilt right out of the package.
I do always wash things before using them - and usually many times - mainly to get the 'finishing' chemicals off.
But, this item only needed one washing and it was ready to go. Coyuchi claims to use 'minimal processing' - I believe it!
The combination of the organic cotton fibers as well as the silky satin-like sateen really helps to make this product very soft.
I've also been using Lifekind's Organic Cotton Sateen Sheets and Pillowcases for that reason with great results.
Coyuchi also offers Organic Cotton Sateen Sheet Sets and individual pieces. You can get just a pillowcase to try it out.
For a less expensive option to the quilt, Coyuchi also offers a Sateen Duvet Cover for use over your existing comforter.
Having MCS myself, I know how hard it can be to find good products and hope this information will be really helpful.
