Per author Noah Smith:
"There are good and bad reasons, but they all add up to a grim economic future..."
According to Bloomberg: America's Population Advantage has Evaporated.
The test of the strength of a civilization is: Can it keep its children alive?
Infant mortality rate, regardless of the cause, was always the benchmark of a society’s ability to thrive.
So, how is the U.S. doing on the civilization test?
“When graded on a curve against its peer nations, it is failing. The U.S. mortality rate is much higher, at almost every age, than that of most of Europe, Japan, and Australia. That is, compared with the citizens of these nations, American infants are less likely to survive.” - The Atlantic Magazine

The United States is no longer a dynamic, thriving country on the rise, but rather a dying country on the decline.
“The infant mortality rate is the number of infant deaths for every 1,000 live births. In addition to giving us key information about maternal and infant health, the infant mortality rate is an important marker of the overall health of a society.” --

To make matters worse, abortion is apparently not factored into the infant mortality rate?
The abortion in the US is currently around 20%. That means 1 in 5 pregnancies are terminated via abortion.
This is higher, again, than the above mentioned countries such as Japan (12) as well as most of Europe,
Much lower rates are seen in European countries Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Italy, etc. (see chart below).

Are the enemies at the gate; will we be able to defend it?
Psalm 127:3-5
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: And the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; So are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: They shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
