I was so afraid at first that our little Daisy might have mange...
She had crusted ear edges at the tips, and some of the hair had started to 'go missing'.
I didn't like the idea of some of the more toxic treatments for this, so I started researching her condition for other ideas.
It turned out that she had a less serious condition known as 'Ear-Edge Vasculitis' which apparently is common in certain breeds such as Chihuahuas and Dachshunds.
With this type of vasculitis, there is no 'itching' as there would be with mange. However, it was still very concerning to us.
Fortunately, this condition can be very easily 'cured' with a natural supplement such as Flax Oil which is rich in Omega 3 Alpha Linoleic Fatty Acid.
Barleans makes one that's organic and just for animals. They need only a little each day - either 'straight' or mixed in their food. I also rubbed a little on each ear tip as well.
This is very easy to do, as well as natural and good for the dog's health. Dogs actually like the taste of the Flax Oil, which is a plus - and dogs just seem to know when something is good for them, too. :)

Barlean's Flax Oil for Animals
Description
- Pure and Natural
- With Rosemary
- Rich in Essential Omega-3 Fatty Acids Commonly Deficient in Animal Foods
- Kosher
Flax Oil is a rich source of Omega-3 (alpha linoleic acid) and has been discovered to be "essential" to health of animals and humans. Omega-3 fatty acids are purposely avoided in the production of commercial pet and animal foods as they may go rancid, limiting the shelf life of these products.
The result is a deficiency of these vital nutrients in these foods and ultimately in your pet. Barlean's has taken the extra steps necessary to preserve the integrity of flaxseed oil, providing your pets with the valuable Omega-3 fatty acids they require for optimal health.
