RETRO SANDAL: This sandal from Earth® Shoes features a familiar retro detail: The wavy style sole of Famolare that was popular in the 70's. This shoe featured a ridged rubber wavy bottom that made for easy, comfortable walking. Similar to the Famolare, this 'Promenade' sandal by Earth® Shoes, also has a waved non-slip sole. From the brand that brought us the Kalso Earth Shoe in the 1970s - A cool chunky beaded leather sandal with the retro look and feel of Famolare! Available in Blue, Black & Brown: "This Bar-B-Que is awesome - and so is when your Cardigan matches the Curtains!"
I just had to share QVC's Color-Coordinated presentation of Corky's BBQ today. All pattern and color-matched! Couldn't have been better planned - even if it wasn't on purpose. Hey, I guess if you spill a little BBQ sauce, it'll just blend right in! Yummy BBQ available below... (Awesome matching 'Cardi' optional.) WATER - Hydrate! Next to air, water is our most important 'nutrient'. Keeping the body well hydrated is essential to our well-being. Drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water each day to maintain your internal balance. Imbalance from even mild dehydration can cause stress hormones to increase since the body sees it as a life-threatening situation. When stress hormones increase, it causes a cascade of changes to thyroid and other hormones, such as insulin. Water can also help to detoxify the body. Pure filtered water or spring water, when available, is the best. According to Dr. Randall Tent, Organically Bound Minerals can also help with maintaining proper hydration. These can be found in supplements such as Plant Derived Colloidal Minerals and Hibiscus Tea. Both help to reduce dehydration and dry mouth, as well as helping to prevent wrinkles and constipation. Check out the chart HERE to see all the things water can do for the body, as long as we get enough. See this LIST for helpful Water-Rich Foods. ***** Blessings and Good Health! NO ENSURE! The typical bottle of Ensure® has far too much sugar to be considered 'healthy'. Some of these include Sugar, Corn Syrup, and Maltodextrin. Is this really what you would want to give to your grandparents or parents? This will only be even more detrimental to their health. The typical bottle of Ensure not only has lots of refined sugars, but also Lactose and other Milk and Soy Isolate products, which many people cannot tolerate.
Additionally the Canola, Corn and Soy ingredients in Ensure are not listed as non-GMO, so they are most likely from Genetically Modified organisms. See the recipe below for an affordable, healthy, natural substitute for Ensure® - *** Homemade Ensure® Substitute Recipe: On this page are some recipe ideas for a homemade nutrition shake similar to Ensure. A tasty vitamin and protein-packed drink can be helpful for the elderly, or as extra nutritional insurance any time. The basic recipe is lactose-free, soy-free, gluten-free, and sugar-free. The ingredients are very simple, but can be added to for various needs:
(Does NOT require a blender!) Of course, adding the Cream or Half & Half doesn't make it lactose-free, but it does add a lot of body and creaminess to the drink. This drink has that nutritious, 'vitamin-y' taste of a nutritional drink such as Ensure, but without all the unhealthy additives and sugar. (The Almond Milk already includes Vitamins A, D & E as well as Calcium. The Liquid Vitamin has Iron, and Vitamins B & C.) Some Possible Add-Ins Include:
Another variation, besides the Chocolate flavor, is Vanilla with a liquid vitamin that has an Orange flavor - making it taste like a Creamsicle! This recipe can also be made with orange Floradix Kinder Love Children's Multivitamin Supplement, for children 4 years of age and over. *Click HERE to see the rest of this article. EMOTIONAL PAIN: Barring a tragic loss, emotional pain is a true luxury. When real physical pain strikes, it can override any emotion. Be grateful when you feel a little blue - because it means you're not in great agony, pain, or illness. *** I sometimes have to remind myself of this. When I do, it really helps and makes me realize all is fine. 'It's all relative' as they say, but it puts things into perspective when you remember all your blessings. Whenever you're 'down', realize things could be worse; a lot worse - as it is for many others in this world. It's o.k. to be a little moody and introspective at times. Just remember - it's a luxury! Have a very blessed day! ☻ Click for information on S.T.O.P. Therapy. If you have Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS), as I also do, it can sometimes be very difficult to find good cosmetics. Most commercial make-up brands have far too many synthetic chemicals and fragrances to be tolerated by those with MCS. However, there are a few good 'natural brands' that don't have any added chemicals or fragrance and that won't cause adverse reaction. Not everyone will react the same way, but below are a few cosmetic companies that I've found by 'trial and error' that don't affect the skin adversely. . Some of these brands include: Ecco Bella; MyChelle; Honeybee Gardens; Sierra Bees, and Aubrey Organics. *** Ecco Bella carries a full line of cosmetics: Foundation, Face Powder, Blush, Shimmer Dust, Eye Shadow, Lip-Color & Gloss, Cover-Up, Mascara, and Eye Liner. I hope that this list may be of some help to others 'suffering' (blessed?!) with MCS to find products that they will be able to use safely as well. *** Click for more info. on 'safe' FACE COSMETICS. Insect Bites: There are lots of different types of insect bites. Most of us know what a mosquito bite, or perhaps even a flea bite, looks and feels like. Then there are those more 'mysterious' bites that sometimes we're not aware how we got, or even what may have bitten us. We happen to live in the 'tropics', so there are unfortunately many types of 'bugs' around. I will share some photos with you here in case it might help someone else to identify an insect bite they may have received. My suspicion is that the bites in these pictures may be spider bites, which to me is the 'worst' thing possible, especially since I really loathe spiders. I did some research online about how a spider bite might look and feel - complete with bruises - and I am pretty sure that's what it was... (See the rest of this Article and Photos HERE.) Delicious Light Buttery Flavor! Spectrum Sesame Oil: This oil has a yummy, neutral flavor that is good in so many dishes. Goes well with either sweet or savory. I use it mostly as-is, but it's also good for cooking. Perfect! Oil Pulling: Rinse the mouth with approximately one tablespoon of oil for 15–20 minutes. (Swish the oil all around in mouth and over teeth.) Do this on an empty stomach before eating/drinking then spit it out and wash the teeth, gums, tongue (softly) and palate thoroughly. (Water rinse, then brush as usual) Cold pressed oil is said to be critical for effectiveness. Reduces plaque, bacteria and toxins. Yummy! Artisana 'Raw' 100% Organic Coconut Oil: Sesame oil, sunflower oil, coconut oil and olive oil are the most recommended. Oil pulling is usually best done first thing in the morning, followed by rinsing out the mouth. This can be done with just plain water or (sea- salt) salt water and then brushing the teeth in a normal morning routine.
